US Tech Surges on Nvidia Momentum; Italy Treads Water

· StockRadar Editorial

United States

The S&P 500 closed at $7,757.64, up 2.07% on the week, while the Nasdaq outpaced broader gains with a 3.00% advance to $26,690.62. The Dow Jones rose 1.61% to $54,036.93, and the Russell 2000 added 1.76% to $3,034.49. Technology dominated the week's gains, with semiconductor and AI-linked equities driving much of the momentum.

Broadcom (AVGO) led US movers with a 9.06% gain to $427.76, closing the week as the strongest performer. Nvidia (NVDA) followed closely, up 8.38% to $223.96, capping its best weekly surge in over a year. Coinbase (COIN) climbed 4.85% to $153.60. Conversely, Alphabet (GOOGL) declined 5.14% to $354.30, while Amazon (AMZN) fell 3.36% to $274.48, suggesting sector rotation or company-specific headwinds within mega-cap technology.

Palantir Technologies staged its strongest weekly performance since 2024, reversing its "AI loser" narrative. The cryptocurrency sector drew institutional attention as a Trump-backed official, American Bitcoin director Justin Mateen, purchased nearly $2 million of ABTC stock. Crypto markets remained subdued, with Bitcoin holding below $65,000 despite underlying activity shifts.

Italy

The FTSE MIB closed at €53,717.00, up 1.60% on the week, in line with broad European sentiment. Leonardo (LDO.MI) led Italian equities with a 7.02% gain to €58.55, significantly outpacing the index. STMicroelectronics (STMMI.MI) added 3.26% to €46.76, benefiting from global semiconductor strength. Ferrari (RACE.MI) rose 2.61% to €355.70, while Moncler (MONC.MI) gained 1.87% to €51.08.

Milan's core index remained range-bound as investors balanced strength in defense and industrial names against weakness in luxury goods. Cucinelli declined during the week, though broader luxury rotation appeared muted. Bitcoin's consolidation below $65,000 had minimal direct impact on Italian equities, though exposure to crypto-adjacent sectors remained a secondary consideration.

Week ahead

Corporate earnings continue with select technology and financial reports due mid-week; macro releases will include jobs data and inflation metrics. Cryptocurrency volatility may resurface depending on regulatory commentary and institutional flows.
